The trail ride will allow you to experience the beautiful Kona coast & Kealakekua Bay area.
The trip will take you down an old Hawaiian trail to an unspoiled part of the coastline, where you will swim and snorkel in the crystal clear water. If the surf happens to be large the day of your ride, we would not go in the ocean, but explore the coastline & go in the tidepools instead. While snorkeling (surf permitting) you will see many varieties of reef fish, sea urchins & beautiful corals.
At the beginning of the trail ride you will experience the lush vegetation of the Big Island and explore the same lands that the ancient Hawaiians traveled on while they did their daily activities such as gathering food and water, and where they would meet Captain Cook for the first time!
After mounting the horses, our trail guide will guide you down a winding jungle-like trail, called the Ka`awaloa Trail, down towards the ocean.
The top part of the trail has many overhanging Ekoa trees, tall grasses and beautiful yellow flowers (Hawaiian daisies) growing on both sides of the trail at certain times of the year.
Most of the trees along the trail are Ekoa & Kiawe trees, but you will also see Mango, Papaya, Coffee, Brazilian Cherry, Lichee and Tamarind trees.
As you go down the trail...the scenery changes into a panoramic view of the ocean...
